Privacy Policy
Effective October 13, 2026
Trakkdown is made by Strouse Technologies ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect through trakkdown.com and the Trakkdown desktop app, and what we do with it. The short version: your trail camera pictures stay on your computer, and we only collect what we need to sell you a license and support you.
Your trail camera pictures
Trakkdown sorts your pictures entirely on your own computer. Your pictures are never uploaded to us or anyone else, and we never see them.
Information we collect
- When you buy: payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your email address and basic order details (such as your name and plan) from Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Your license: we create your license key with our licensing provider, Keygen, linked to your email address and plan, and email it to you.
- When you use the app: when you activate Trakkdown, and each time it starts with an internet connection, the app contacts Keygen to verify your license. It sends your license key and a machine fingerprint, which is a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of a hardware identifier from your computer. The fingerprint lets us enforce the number of computers on your plan; it can't be used to identify you or access your computer.
- Update check: each time it starts, the app checks trakkdown.com for a newer version. The request carries no personal information beyond the standard details our hosting provider logs, like your IP address.
- PRO reports: to draw sunrise and sunset times on your report, the app looks up your approximate location from your internet connection's IP address using ipinfo.io, then sends that location and your report's dates to sunrise-sunset.org. No photos are sent. If you're offline, the report is created without them.
- When you contact us: messages sent through our contact form are delivered by Formspree and include the name, email address, and message you enter. Emails you send us directly are kept in our inbox.
- When you visit the website: we use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify individual visitors. Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (like IP addresses) for security and reliability.
- Embedded video: our demo video is hosted on YouTube. YouTube may collect information under its own privacy policy if you play the video.
How we use it
- To process your purchase and deliver your license key
- To verify your license and enforce the number of computers on your plan
- To answer your questions and handle refunds
- To understand which pages of our website are useful
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers listed above, who use it only to provide their services to us. We may disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep purchase and license records for as long as your license is active and as needed for accounting and legal requirements. You can ask us to delete your information at any time; deleting your license record will deactivate your license key.
